Rhythm Of Rest

Last week, we were challenged to embrace change as Spirit-filled believers following God’s lead wherever and whenever He may take us. We were reminded from Ecclesiastes chapter three about how there is a time and season for everything in life. A few weeks ago, we learned how God created everything with boundaries and how His moral boundaries should be just as valued and appreciated as His physical boundaries like the atmospheric boundary between our lungs and the vacuum of space…

Embrace Change

As students are being sent out into a brand new season of their education full of uncertainty and unknowns, they are also being reminded that they aren’t getting sent out alone.  They are also being sent out with the Presence of God and with hope; an eager expectation that good things are awaiting them in the midst of the uncertainty. God’s word teaches us in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time and a season for everything.  Although change is…

Refuge

We’ve been learning quite a bit about hope recently; what hope is, what it looks like to maintain hope, what hope is able to accomplish for us, where our hope needs to be placed, how to hang onto hope through loss and betrayal, etc.  This week, God challenged me a bit, and I’m going to pass that challenge on to you. Usually when I think of hope, it is due to circumstances beyond my control.  Something happened to me or…

Hope

This morning, we’re going to be encouraged in how to receive and maintain hope in life.  Hope itself is a confident expectation; to hope is to, well, expect confidently.  🙂  Hope is an intangible substance and yet it is so real to those who truly possess it.  Hope is like a placeholder that fills the gaps of our lack until we receive that which we long for.  Though hope is intended to be a positive and encouraging thing, it does…

Hope Through Loss

Last week, we learned about the power of praise and were challenged to praise God no matter what circumstances we may find ourselves in.  You may have heard that you need to be careful what you pray or ask for because you just might get it.  The saying also seems to ring true to be careful what you preach because you just might get to live it. Well, I thought that our basement flooding and getting that cleaned up a…

The Power of Praise

This morning, we’re going to learn a bit about the power of praise. We were designed by God both with the ability to give praise, but also with the innate need to receive praise.  Whether at school, you workplace, your marriage, volunteering, your family, your team, wherever you may find look, people will work harder, achieve more, and be more content if they often receive some form of praise.  People who know that they are appreciated and that their efforts…

Freedom: To Love

So far, we’ve learned about a freedom that Jesus has offered to us – a true freedom that nothing and no one can steal away.  Even bound in chains and imprisoned, still we can be free.  This freedom was given to us not for our own selfish selves, but was given to us for the purpose of  enabling us to serve others.  We now continue where we left off last week learning that we are free to serve. Galatians 5:6b;13-15…

Freedom: To Serve

Galatians 5 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. In these ever-changing days, it is assuring to know that we can keep our feet fixed firmly on Jesus, the unchanging, unshakable rock and our firm foundation!  In Christ alone, we find true freedom no matter what happens around us.  As we learned last week, and are being reminded again this…

Freedom

Yesterday, we celebrated the birth of a nation that most of us have been incredibly blessed to be born in, the United States of America.  The freedom and liberty that this nation provides for us is amazing.  We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who gave their lives to gain it and for those who continue to lay down their lives to protect it every day. In the turbulent political days in which we are living we find…

Vision: Believing Is Seeing

This morning, God is challenging us in a huge way.  With this challenge, however, comes the opportunity for us to leave this place this morning completely free of so many burdens that heavily weigh us down such as bitterness, resentment, hurt, and hate.  With this challenge comes the opportunity for us leave this place this morning full of peace, confidence, assurance, hope and joy. I have to warn you, though.  This opportunity comes at a cost.  God is willing to…
